Spring Yard Waste Pickup – April 13th
April 13th 2020 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
From our Alderman Jim Donelan:
“NO STICKER” YARD WASTE/LEAF PICK UP BEGINS MONDAY – REMINDER: This program is DIFFERENT from the branch pickup program.
The City of Springfield’s “no sticker”, bi-weekly yard waste/leaf pick up program begins the week of April 6 in the South Zone. The program will run for one full year, and stickers will NOT be required during the entire collection period.
Republic Services is the city’s contractor and has divided the community into two pick up zones – North and South. Crews will alternate every other week in each “zone” picking up yard waste. To estimate when your yard waste will be picked up, crews always work from west to east in each zone. Those located in the eastern part of their zone will be picked up in the later part of the week while those in the west portion of the zone will be picked up in the beginning half of the week.
The South Zone is the area south of South Grand Avenue and Old Jacksonville Road including residential properties around the lake.
The North Zone is the area north of South Grand Avenue and Old Jacksonville Road.
Yard waste must be placed curbside. Alley pick up will not occur for yard waste.
All yard waste MUST be placed in paper yard waste/leaf bags or hard rigid plastic containers. Containers must be clearly marked with the words “Yard Waste” or “YW” and cannot be more than 30 gallons and weigh no more than 50 pounds.
A map and pickup schedule is available on the City’s website along with additional information.
REMINDER: The “no sticker” yard waste program is DIFFERENT from the branch pickup program. The City’s 2020 branch pickup program has NOT yet begun this service is conducted by our own Public Works crews and the branch pickup schedule will be announced at the end of April. Due to the COVID-19 orders, the spring branch pickup will begin at a later date.
Smaller branches and twigs may be broken up and placed in yard waste containers.
As a reminder, branches are not allowed in boulevards.
